One Central, Argyle Street is the new technology hub recently developed for JP Morgan Chase and Co. on a prime city centre site in the heart of Glasgow’s International Financial Services District. The building extends to some 270,000 sq ft over 14 floors. An impressive, covered colonnade along the Argyle Street frontage extends and enhances the civic presence of the public realm. This culminates at the main entrance on Robertson Street with a carefully contrived arrangement of steps and raised planters designed to accommodate the highly complex residual levels which converged at this point to provide a simple barrier free and welcoming approach to the building. Natural paving materials were used throughout, and Hostile Vehicle Mitigation measures were an integral part of the design.
