Hirst Landscape Architects had previously been involved with the development of Hillington Park for previous owners Caledonian Land and MEPC between 1991-2003, undertaking various landscape improvements and new build developments. We were reintroduced to the park by new owners FPUK and tasked initially with reviewing and developing a series of small-scale landscape improvements and interventions to refresh areas of tired planting. Subsequently, the nature of the interventions has developed towards more biodiverse landscapes on residual open plots, both as direct projects and as off-site ecological gain for recent developments.
Over the same period, HLA have also assisted MAPP with tendering and management of the park-wide landscape maintenance contract in 2018 and in 2022. This has led to a more developed specification for general maintenance, and the better connection of on-going maintenance with post-completion developments and biodiversity projects undertaken since 2018.
